| Auction of land offered to YSR's son deferred
HYDERABAD: The Government deferred auction of 487 acres of land in Kadapa district, which was earlier offered to M/s Raghuram Cements by a Cabinet decision, as the latter was the only party to be present for the auction on Wednesday. The cement company has Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy's son Y. S. Jaganmohan Reddy as its director. The five-member committee formed by the Government to conduct the open auction postponed the exercise to April 26 with the hope that others would participate in it. A. Raghottama Rao, Chief Commissioner, Land Administration, who headed the committee, said participation by others would ensure a better price. eBid Doubles Successful Closings, Adds Videos to Online Auctions
Online auction website eBid said it has doubled the number of auctions that are closing successfully compared to November 2006. The auction marketplace has also unveiled a new design, stating it has "cleaned up the layout, simplified the navigation, improved search, and made it easier to find items you are looking to sell and want to buy." eBid also added functionality for sellers to add videos to auctions when listing items. To add video to their auction listings, sellers upload video files to YouTube and add the unique 11 digit code that each new video is given into the box on the eBid listing page. The online auction site said it has also made other, numerous improvements to the site. eBid is based in the UK. It launched in the US in 2005 and is available in Canada, Australia and Ireland.

("Liberty Global") (NASDAQ: LBTYA) (NASDAQ: LBTYB) (NASDAQ: LBTYK) announced today the expiration of its modified Dutch auction self-tender offers to purchase up to 7,142,857 shares of its Series A common stock and up to 7,656,968 shares of its Series C common stock, which expired at 5:00 p.m., New York City time, on April 19, 2007. Based on the preliminary tabulation by the depositary, the Series A tender offer was oversubscribed as approximately 8,024,762 shares of Series A common stock were validly tendered and not withdrawn, including shares subject to guaranteed delivery. The purchase price for the Series A tender offer is $35.00 per share. Liberty Global also announced that it intends to exercise its right to purchase up to an additional 2% of its outstanding Series A common stock in the tender offer without extending the tender offer.
Tragus beaten in La Tasca bidding war by Tchenguiz
In a statement today La Tasca's board said given Tagus's decision not to increase its 192p per share bid for the company yesterday, it would be supporting the higher rival bid. La Tasca said: “The board of the company has considered its position and consequently withdrawn its recommendation. The implementation agreement with Tragus has therefore also been terminated." Property magnate Robert Tchenguiz upped the stakes in the bidding war for La Tasca with a 200p per share bid yesterday (4 April), made through his investment vehicle R20 in concert with Icelandic bank Kaupthing. It values the company, which has 58-restaurnats in the UK and four in the USA at £104.2m. Tragus initially started the bidding war by tabling an offer of 185p per share for the company at the end of March.
